Resources for Quality Literature and Non-Fiction
Central to getting youth to read is engaging them through literature and non-fiction that is relevant to their lives and experiences. There are a number of fantastic sites to find new titles and literacy-based activities, and these three are tried and tested by educators we work with at generationOn:
What Kids Can Do and their nonprofit publishing house, Next Generation Press, offer stories and books that feature the voices of youth as a powerful force for justice, understanding, and social change.
CBK Associates features amazing youth-based toolkits and literature here, and also offers ten ways to bring quotes to life here. A genuinely engaging set of quote activities to get students to think deeply about words and the way we use them!
