Hasbro Community Action Heroes: 2016 Application Now Open! 

The Hasbro Community Action Hero Awards recognizes kids and teens (ages 5-18) from diverse backgrounds across the nation that have shown extraordinary commitment to service and made a positive impact in their local and/or global community. Through their service achievements, these young people have demonstrated the qualities of a hero; kindness, courage and leadership.

Hasbro Children's Fund and generationOn will celebrate a group of young people between the ages of 5 and 18* for their extraordinary community service and volunteer activities at a special recognition event in the Fall of 2016. Each winner will receive a $1,000 educational scholarship and a $500 grant to their selected non-profit partner.

Hasbro Community Action Heroes are also generationOn Ambassadors, inspiring other kids and teens to make the world a better place. Included in the role of an Ambassador are the following:

  • Author one blog post about their project, service passions, and/or tips for kids on service

  • Participate in a HCAH group project with instruction and support from generationOn

  • Participate in generationOn's Joy Maker campaign

*Recipient must be enrolled in high school in October 2016

Application Proccess 

Applications for the 2016 Hasbro Community Action Hero Award must be received by Monday, June 13, 2016, 5:00pm EST.  There are two ways to be considered for this award. 

  1.  Adult Nominations 

    • Applicants can be nominated. A nominator acts as a witness or reference to the community service and community leadership of the applicant.

  2. Self-Nomination

  • Applicants can self-nominate themsevles. As a young person doing great work in the community they can speak to their own leadership. 

  • Self-nominations must have a reference letter uploaded as part of their application. This reference must be from a NON-family member. References could include teachers, mentors, librarians, school counselors, youth service officials, and religious leaders.

All Applicants 

  • Will be notified of their status on August 22, 2016

  • Semi-finalists will be asked to submit interview videos with instructions from generationOn staff. 

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Open only to residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are 5-18 years old and in grades K-11 at the time of nomination. Please note that students at any school be it public, private, or home are eligible.

  • It is the nominator's responsibility to submit a complete nomination. Only fully completed nominations will be considered. generationOn accepts no responsibility for incomplete nominations, nominations lost due to technical difficulties, or any other submission in exception to the above instructions. Nominators must be over the age of 13. Parents and family members may serve as nominators.

  • By accepting the award, the winner agrees to grant generationOn and Hasbro Inc. permission to publish any photos for promotional purposes. Winners may be publicized in local and national media outlets.
